Turks and Caicos Honeymoon Guide

The Turks and Caicos is a dream honeymoon destination, with some of the finest white-sand beaches and turquoise ocean water in the world. It's also home to a great selection of accommodations, from quaint and romantic beach bungalows to expansive villas and five-star luxury resorts. Planning your honeymoon in the Turks and Caicos is easy.

Turks and Caicos Honeymoon Islands

The Turks and Caicos archipelago is home to more than 100 named islands and cays, of which nine are inhabited and have accommodations. While the world-famous Grace Bay Beach on Providenciales is usually the first Turks and Caicos location that comes to mind, each of the lesser-known islands has its own attractions and unique ambiance. These quieter islands can be a great choice for a honeymoon getaway, especially if you love a deserted beach.

Providenciales

Providenciales (Provo for short) is home to Grace Bay Beach and the majority of resorts, hotels, and restaurants in the Turks and Caicos. It hosts nearly all of the overnight guests who visit the country. The island offers by far the greatest selection of activities and charters, and is the best choice for gourmet dining and nightlife. Provo’s lesser-known beaches are also exceptional, and the sheer number of gorgeous coasts makes the island a top Caribbean beach destination.

Grand Turk

Grand Turk is home to the capital city of Cockburn Town. The island was once the bustling center of activity in the country, but has since been overtaken by Providenciales. Tourism is the main focus on Grand Turk, and caters to both cruise guests who visit via the Grand Turk Cruise Center and scuba divers visiting to explore the reefs.

Grand Turk offers an atmosphere that’s quite different from Providenciales. There’s an old colonial beachfront town and roaming donkeys. It's a small island that can be explored rather quickly. Diving is excellent, with boat trips out to beautiful wall dive sites typically only taking minutes. The old homes and villas have a unique Bermudian feel, and there are quaint old properties and charming hotels to stay at.

North Caicos and Middle Caicos

The verdant Garden Islands of North Caicos and Middle Caicos are laid-back, quiet, and sparsely developed. There’s an endless number of beautiful and secluded beaches to discover, inspiring landscapes, and the majestic Mudjin Harbour coastline.

There are no luxury resorts on either island. Instead, you will find vacation rentals and villas, some of which can be modest. The islands, however, are the perfect choice if you appreciate nature and would rather not see many people. A causeway connects both islands, so it’s easy to get around.

South Caicos

South Caicos is the fishing capital of the Turks and Caicos, and was once a major sea salt producer. In the last decade, the island's luxury tourism market has begun to grow. There are two beautiful resorts on the island for honeymoons: Sailrock on the scenic northern peninsula and the soon-to-open Salterra Resort & Spa on the southern coast. Like Grand Turk, South Caicos isn’t large. The adjacent cays, sounds, and channels, however, offer a completely different perspective. Aside from the small fishing village of Cockburn Harbour on one side of the island, much of the remainder is secluded and undeveloped. There’s no shortage of awe-inspiring landscapes and coastlines to discover.

Salt Cay

The often-overlooked island of Salt Cay combines excellent diving and whale watching with secluded beaches. Salt Cay is another quiet destination. The accommodation options are limited to vacation rental homes, and there are a handful of restaurants for dining.

Private Cays

There are three private island retreats in the Turks and Caicos, all of which feature unique stays and luxury villas. Private transport via boat or aircraft—typically from Providenciales, where all international flights land—is required to get to these cays. This fare may be included with your stay, depending on the resort. These outer islands are an incredible choice for a quiet, secluded honeymoon resort stay in the Turks and Caicos.

Pine Cay, located near Providenciales, is home to the laid-back and tranquil Pine Cay Resort (a boutique hotel). The small and quiet property is located on one of the finest beaches in the Turks and Caicos, and possibly the Caribbean. Pine Cay is connected by a sandbar to Water Cay, Half Moon Bay, and Little Water Cay, so collectively there are miles of deserted and perfect white sand beach to explore. The cay offers little beyond the hotel and some private homes, so attractions and shopping are very limited—the ideal retreat for some newlywed couples.

Parrot Cay, a popular retreat for the rich and famous, is located near North Caicos. The exclusive COMO Parrot Cay Resort offers suites, standalone cottages, and larger villas. As is the case with Salt Cay and Pine Cay, there’s not a lot of activities, shopping, or off-resort dining, which appeals to some honeymooners.

Ambergris Cay is the most remote private island in the Turks and Caicos. It is located slightly south of scenic Long Cay and South Caicos. Ambergris Cay Resort offers all-inclusive stays in luxury villas, with concierge and butler services. The resort is part of the Turks and Caicos Collection, and the cay offers a beautiful and unique ecosystem that is a haven for many of the endemic snakes and lizards, including the Turks and Caicos rock iguana.

Where to Stay

Accommodations in the Turks and Caicos can loosely be defined as one of three types: the classic hotel or resort, all-inclusive resorts, and vacation homes and villas. Each has its own advantages.

Hotels and Resorts

Hotels and resorts on Providenciales range from budget options to five-star resorts, and everything in between.

For an intimate hotel, some great choices are West Bay Club and Wymara Resort on the Bight Beach, Grace Bay Club, The Ritz-Carlton, Seven Stars Resort, Point Grace and The Palms on Grace Bay Beach, the Shore Club on Long Bay Beach, and Amanyara at the remote Malcolm’s Road Beach.

All-Inclusive Resorts

There are many Turks and Caicos all-inclusive resorts to choose from, with a full range of ambiances. Beaches Turks and Caicos is the largest in the country. The resort is family-oriented, yet does offer wedding and honeymoon packages as well. The Beaches property is extensive, with a wealth of activities, 21 restaurants, and some family-friendly attractions such as a water park and gaming arcade.

The Turks and Caicos Collection on Providenciales includes the Alexandra Resort and Blue Haven Resort, and guests staying at one site can access the amenities and dining of the other.

Club Med Turkoise is an adult-only all-inclusive resort. It's located on a prime stretch of Grace Bay and offers many activities and things to do.

Off Providenciales, all-inclusive vacations are available at the Pine Cay Resort on Pine Cay and Ambergris Cay Resort on Ambergris Cay.

Villas and Vacation Rentals

Villas and vacation rentals typically offer greater privacy and seclusion over most hotels, and may also be located at their own small beach or secluded oceanfront spot. In many cases, it’s possible to arrange butler services and a private chef. As is the case with hotels, there’s a full range of prices and properties available. Amenities may include everything from an infinity pool, to being located at a great snorkeling spot, such as Smith’s Reef.

Besides simply relaxing on one of our spectacular beaches, a boat charter or tour is our top suggested activity for all guests visiting the Turks and Caicos. There’s a wide selection of vessels, excursions, and destinations to choose from, aboard both power vessels and sailboats.

An intimate private charter is the perfect honeymoon choice. A luxurious Axopar powerboat, which can quickly and comfortably get to remote and exquisite destinations such as the West Caicos Marine National Park, Little Ambergris Cay, and Fort George Cay will appeal to some, yet a tranquil sailboat is also an excellent choice, and an authentic sailing experience is unforgettable, and something everyone should try at least once.

A sunset cruise or glowworm tour is the counterpart to a day boat cruise, and is also highly recommended. Both shared and private cruises are offered, aboard either powerboats or sailing vessels. Some yacht charters offer a private dinner on the water, which is the perfect complement to the stunning sunset.

A private horseback ride is another romantic thing to do, and stables are located near Long Bay Beach and Blue Hills Beach. Horseback riding on Providenciales often includes some wading in our turquoise waters if desired!

Several of the beachfront restaurants, including Bay Bistro and Blue Water Bistro at Wymara resort offer romantic and private beachfront couples dining.

All of our islands are home to amazing beaches, and with a rental car or jeep, you can get out and discover them.

If you’re looking for something that’s a little livelier, some great considerations include visiting the tap room at our local Turk’s Head Brewery, or getting a day or night pass to one of the larger all-inclusive resorts. Both Beaches Turks and Caicos and Club Med Turkoise offer day and evening passes, which include unlimited food and drinks, as well as many activities and water sports. Activities include kayaking, snorkel cruises, Hobie Cat sailing, paddleboarding, and more.

Potcake Place is another fun thing to do. Potcakes are a unique and friendly breed of dog found in the Turks and Caicos and Bahamas, and the Potcake Place rescue charity offers the chance to take cute puppies out for socialization walls on Grace Bay Beach! If you’re not careful, you may end up with a newly adopted family member!

Want to try something exciting? Some exhilarating water sports include freediving, which is easier and more rewarding than you may initially expect, and guided jet ski tours, which can visit interesting sights such as West Harbour Bluff, Bay Cay, the La Famille Express shipwreck, and more.

An island drop-off is another consideration. A few companies will transport guests to one of our secluded cays with a cooler and umbrella, and then come back later for transport back. You’ll get a large expanse of beach and ocean to yourselves, and possible destinations include Little Water Cay, Half Moon Bay, Water Cay, Pine Cay, and Fort George Cay.

Last but not least is a spa visit. There are many beachfront spas to choose from, which offer wide menus of couple’s massages and beauty treatments.

Shopping and Souvenirs

The Grace Bay region on Providenciales is the home of luxury shopping in the Turks and Caicos. There, you can browse designer brands and jewelry, imported and local alcohol and tobacco products, and local arts and crafts.

Local jewelers may also be able to craft custom pieces to commemorate your wedding and honeymoon visit to the Turks and Caicos.

There are several galleries in Grace Bay, which feature collections of fine art photos, paintings, sculptures, jewelry made from conch shells and pearls, and more.
