The Private Island of Parrot Cay
Parrot Cay is a unique island in the Turks and Caicos, with its history as an upscale vacation destination and retreat for the
rich and famous starting with Austrian Count Ferdinand Czernin, who wanted a place to escape to from New York. In the latter 1960s and 1970s, the island began to see the development of the resort and some of the private vacation home owed by celebrities.
Parrot Cay is found in the string of scenic cays between Providenciales and North Caicos, and is about 25 minutes from Providenciales via passenger ferry. The resort typically arranges ferry transport for all its guests. Parrot Cay Resort run their own vessels, which depart from a private dock at
Parrot Cay is the only inhabited island in the Turks and Caicos that doesn’t have an airstrip or airport. The cay is located adjacent to North Caicos, so it’s easy make the quick hop over. North Caicos and Middle Caicos are connected by a road causeway, and both islands are an exceptional
day trip destination.
The Beaches at Parrot Cay Resort
On its northern coast, Parrot Cay is home to several excellent beaches, the finest section of which is located on the north-eastern edge of the island and fronting the main resort complex. This exquisite spot offers shallow and crystal clear ocean, with a network of sand bars, making it one of the most picturesque coastal areas in the Turks and Caicos.
The western side of Parrot Cay’s coast continues as a beautiful beach, with the occasional rock outcropping and snorkeling reef.
