Providenciales Parasailing

Editor's Comments
Parasailing is an activity that everyone should try at least once, and there’s no better place to experience it than Grace Bay. The clear water, beach, and reef are breathtaking from above. If time allows, book your flight on a sunny day with light wind for the best views.

Nearly all parasailing in Turks and Caicos takes place at Grace Bay Beach on the island of Providenciales. This sport is an exciting way to get a bird’s-eye view of the turquoise ocean water, beaches, resorts, and tour boats below. Most public tours consist of a 15–20 minute ride in the air, while private charters offer longer flights.

Due to the ocean clarity and scenic coastlines, Providenciales offers some of the finest parasailing in the Caribbean. From high above the water, many larger sea creatures, including turtles, dolphins, rays, and sharks, can be seen swimming below. On the calmest of days, you can see starfish in the clear sandy areas. Grace Bay parasailing tours also provide you with an unforgettable view of the complex network of corals that make up the barrier reef.

Other sights include Hobie cats, luxury yachts, and tubing boats cruising below, as well as the island of Little Water Cay and Half Moon Bay Beach to the east.

This water sport is one of the top things to do and is a great family activity, as it’s suitable for most ages (other than young children). No experience is necessary to ride and no controls are operated by the rider. The captain and crew guide the entire excursion.

Turks and Caicos Parasailing Tours

Parasailing in Providenciales is offered both as a public and private activity. Public parasailing is easy to arrange as tours depart daily from the beach. The average flight is about 15 to 20 minutes, and riders can fly up to 500 feet (152 m) in the air.

Private charters are a nice option for larger groups or for those who simply want to spend more time flying. Some private trips also include a snorkel stop and BBQ lunch at a beach.

The minimum age to participate varies by company. Depending on total weight, it’s possible for up to three people to ride per flight.

Public flights start at $75 per person (2026 prices).

Booking Your Excursion

You can typically get the best rates by booking in advance and directly with the company.

Although Providenciales parasailing excursions can be arranged by dealing directly with captains on the beach, it's best to make reservations to ensure availability. When space allows, observers are usually allowed to ride along for a nominal fee.

Excursions begin with pickup either on Grace Bay Beach or at a local marina.

Cancellations

Companies typically require at least 24 hours' notice to cancel without charge. However, if poor weather conditions affect your adventure, they often reschedule or cancel trips at no cost.

What to Bring

Consider bringing a camera (preferrably waterproof and with a wrist strap) to capture the view. The vantage point this water sport offers is truly unique and can produce incredible vacation photos.

Polarized sunglasses help reduce water surface reflections and allow for a much clearer view of the reefs and sea life.

Wear a swimsuit or clothes that you don't mind getting wet, as some flights include a shallow dip in the ocean upon request.

Safety

The foremost companies use custom parasailing powerboats with proper decks and winch systems. This makes rides safer and the launch easier, and means that you don’t have to get wet (unless you want to).

When Is the Best Time to Parasail?

As is the case with most outdoor activities here, there are optimal conditions for this sport.

When the wind and breeze are very low, the ocean visibility and clarity is best, allowing you to spot more of the interesting marine life and reef formations. If your vacation schedule allows, consider planning your excursions, water sports, snorkeling and boat cruises around the calmest weather.

If there’s an ocean swell present, the barrier reef may have sets of majestic waves rolling in (also an impressive sight).
