Providenciales Tubing

Tubing in the beautiful waters of the Turks and Caicos.

Tubing is a popular activity on Providenciales and generally requires no experience to enjoy. It consists of riding (and holding onto) an inflatable tube towed behind a powerboat at high speed.

Unlike wakeboarding and water skiing, where the rider holds a line attached to the boat, wake rides have the line directly attached to the inflatable. Wake rides generally require no training and only a safety briefing prior to participation.

In the past, water tubing was typically done on long banana- and shark-shaped tubes that could fit 4–8 passengers. Unfortunately, banana boat rides and shark boat rides are now rarely seen in the Turks and Caicos and have largely been replaced by towable tube chairs, like Airhead's Big Mable tube, or flat round tubes that you ride on your stomach. These towable rides typically seat between one and three people.

Tour Types

Public tubing rides on Providenciales start at around $75 per person for a 15-minute ride (2026 price). Both public and private rides are available through the local operators.

Private tubing charters charge a flat rate for a set amount of time, so guests can ride for as long as they like during their allotted time.

Tubing is also available as an add-on activity with many private boat charters.

Locations

Tubing is popular off all of the beaches within a short boat ride of the Grace Bay area. These regions include Grace Bay Beach, the Bight Beach, Leeward Beach, Half Moon Bay, and Water Cay.

Booking and Reservations

Tubing at Grace Bay, Providenciales.

This water sport can often be arranged directly on Grace Bay Beach, though it's typically best to reserve with a company in advance to ensure availability. Private charters usually require a deposit to reserve your tour.

Tubing can be done on its own through a dedicated tubing operator or as an add-on activity with many private charters. Charter companies typically require advance notice if you want to tube on your charter, as they'll need to bring the necessary equipment.

Safety

Tubing may not be suitable for riders with back or joint problems. This water sport features quick twists and turns that can throw you off of the tube abruptly. Be aware of the risks before booking a tour.

Ensure that the ride operator you deal with is both licensed and insured. Local law requires that each boat have a minimum of two employees: a captain and a full-time spotter. If your boat operator doesn’t have at least two staff, do not use their services. Life vests should be available to all riders and must be worn by children. If a boat does not meet these requirements, it's suggested that you look to a different business.
