Le Comptoir Français
Regent Village, Grace Bay Road, Grace Bay, ProvidencialesIf you’re looking for a tasty lunch made with fresh ingredients, Le Comptoir Français in Grace Bay answers the call. Locally known as Julien’s Deli, this European eatery prepares pastries, sandwiches, and tasty salads, and also sells a variety of specialty foods and wines sourced from owner Julien Marziou’s native France and beyond.
The deli is open for breakfast and lunch six days a week. You can choose from a variety of breads, from soft, fresh baguettes to buttery croissants and sourdough, to build your sandwich (and even grab a bottle of French wine on your way out). Le Comptoir Français offers takeout, and also does catering for private events.
This deli is conveniently located in the Regent Village shopping plaza, close to gift and souvenir shopping, luxury resorts, scuba diving shops, and the famed Grace Bay Beach. Expect lines around lunchtime, when tourists and the island’s workforce flock to the deli to place their orders. Seating indoors often fills up around this time, though the shop’s terrace—bordered by ivy-clad columns—is a sunny, aesthetic alternative that’s typically less busy.
The Menu
Le Comptoir Français has a robust menu of meals, pastries, salads, and sides available, and there are options that can satisfy even the pickiest eater, from chicken fingers to French toast. The cuisine is primarily French, and there are some vegetarian options available.
While the deli doesn't serve dinner, there's a great option for French cuisine across the street. Le Bouchon du Village, an authentic French fine dining bistro owned and operated by Julien's father, Chef Pierrik, prepares some of the finest French dishes on Providenciales.
Breakfast
Popular dishes with the breakfast crowd are the deli’s omelets, eggs Benedict, and breakfast sandwich. The pastries behind the glass, which range from danishes to pain au chocolat, are also a nice morning option to pair with your coffee. The deli has an espresso machine and can make lattes, cappuccinos, mochas, and americanos, as well as regular drip coffee.
Lunch
Le Comptoir Français has several shareables on its menu—such as the baked brie, charcuterie, and cheese board—that are ideal for a casual, light lunch. Salads are also a popular choice, and can be topped with anchovies, fish, chicken, and shrimp at additional cost.
Many locals consider Le Comptoir Français to make some of the best sandwiches on the island, and given the quality, they’re actually reasonably priced. There’s a range of choices, from the vegetarian Caprese sandwich to the savory garlic sausage sub and smoked salmon roll.
Each sandwich comes with lettuce, tomato, and provolone as its base ingredients. At additional cost, you can add premium toppings (brie, avocado, bacon, and buffalo mozzarella) to any sandwich. Sandwiches don’t come with a side, so if you want fries or a salad, you’ll have to order them separately.
Specialty Food Items
Looking to pick up a bottle of wine (or two)? Le Comptoir Français carries a range of fine European white and red wines, as well as Champagne and Prosecco. Spirits and liqueurs, such as grappa, amaro, gin, and more, can be found here as well.
If you're preparing to cook a feast at your private villa or vacation rental, consider browsing the specialty cooking ingredients and snacks on Le Comptoir Français' shelves. Spices, tapenades, olive oils, Italian pastas, and even French butter cookies are sold here.
