New Year's Eve
Grace Bay Beach, ProvidencialesNew Year’s Eve on Providenciales is one of the busiest and most anticipated times of the year. The best place to spend the holiday is on Grace Bay Beach watching the fireworks and enjoying live entertainment.
While smaller firework displays do happen around 9:00 and 10:00 PM, the main show is at midnight, when spinners, poppers, and strobes light up Grace Bay Beach and illuminate Provo's north coast in a kaleidoscope of colors.
Watching fireworks at Grace Bay Beach on New Year’s Eve is a fun event that’s entertaining for the whole family. On the beach, you’ll often find large bonfires and nearby musicians performing for guests of beachfront resorts.
The entire Grace Bay area—specifically, the stretch of road between Saltmills Plaza and La Petite Place—is extremely busy on New Year’s Eve. Large traffic jams around the Seven Stars roundabout are common, and it is nearly impossible to find parking, especially around beach access points. It’s best to make New Year’s Eve plans ahead of time to avoid driving to multiple locations over the course of the night. Taxis are also unreliable at this time of year.
Where to Go on New Year’s Eve
If you’re looking for an upscale experience to celebrate the holiday, many resorts, restaurants, and bars around Providenciales host New Year's parties and events. Tickets can be expensive, but often include food. Unlimited drinks are almost never included, though some events may offer you a complimentary glass of champagne with your ticket.
Grace Bay Club
This luxurious beachfront resort on Grace Bay Beach offers some of the best views of the dazzling New Year's fireworks. Grace Bay Club typically organizes a New Year’s party and opulent buffet at its on-site restaurant, Infiniti Restaurant & Raw Bar. Expect to pay more than $100 (2024 price) for a ticket. This includes food, but not drinks.
Grace Bay Club's New Year's party is one of the biggest on Providenciales. Wait times at the bar can be long, and as credit card processing machines lose connection at times, it’s best to bring small bills.
The Ritz-Carlton
Another ticketed resort event is the Ritz-Carlton's New Year's party. Hosted on the modern resort’s beachfront and area next to the pool, the main feature is the fireworks on the beach.
Rickie’s on the Beach (Flamingo Café)
Rickie’s is arguably the most popular local place to go on New Year’s Eve. The restaurant builds a large bonfire on the beach and hosts its own fireworks display at midnight. Expect lots of delicious local food, such as cracked conch and jerk chicken, dancing on the beach, and fun vibes.
Cielo
This Miami-inspired nightclub in Ports of Call Plaza hosts an annual New Year’s party that features a photobooth with props, free canapés and hors d’oeuvres before midnight, and a live DJ. To watch the fireworks at midnight, you can either move to Cielo’s outdoor patio or make the three-minute trod to Grace Bay Beach.
Entrance is free. The bar typically attracts a younger crowd.
Aziza
This Mediterranean restaurant and lounge between central Grace Bay and Leeward turns into a club vibe on New Year’s Eve. Typically, the restaurant has a live DJ performing a range of music types, from dancehall and soca to Top 40 and rap.
Aziza is one of the most popular places for the younger crowd to spend New Year's Eve—lines around midnight can be very long, and the bar has previously charged cover fees at that time to ease congestion.
Chartering a Boat to Watch Fireworks
Some water sports companies offer New Year’s Eve boat charters that allow you to watch the Grace Bay fireworks from a pretty spectacular vantage point—the ocean. Compared to the other options listed above, this may be the most expensive way to spend the evening. Charters book up far in advance, so plan ahead if this is a must-do experience for your group.
What to Bring to Watch Fireworks on the Beach
A free, and perhaps more intimate, way to spend New Year’s Eve is to pack a cooler with drinks and food and head to Grace Bay Beach to watch the fireworks. This is a great option if you’re staying at a resort, villa, or other type of accommodation near the beach. Be sure to pack ice, drinks, snacks, and insect repellent in case the no-see-ums are biting. Walk to the beach if you can avoid driving, as parking is virtually unavailable in Grace Bay during New Year's Eve.
