Providenciales Kid's Camps, Clubs, and Activities

Kid's stand up paddle board race in the Turks and Caicos
Stand-up paddleboard race!

Kid’s camps are organized group activities for outdoor adventures, water sports, and cultural experiences. They are open to and perfect for both kids visiting and those that are resident. Several local companies host such event, which are often scheduled for the summer month, yet may be held throughout the year.

A kid’s camp can be an excellent way to experience the natural environment, as most are centered around our Beautiful by Nature outdoors. Some resorts also offer their own camps and activity centers, and may also work with local excursion businesses to provide offsite trips. As Providenciales is the main island in the country, kid’s camps are typically based on the island. However, they do arrange day trips to our less-populated islands.

Water Sports and Activities

The beaches and marine environment are our top attraction, so it’s no surprise that most kid’s camps focus on things to do on and in the ocean. Often, camps include a verity of water sports experiences.

Kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, typically in the verdant red mangrove tidal channels, are top things to do. These shallow waterways shelter green turtles, hawksbill turtles, stingrays, juvenile sharks, upside-down jellyfish, starfish, conch, colorful fish, and birdlife.

Snorkeling safaris and scuba diving instruction is another fun and rewarding option. Structured and professional scuba diving instruction through the camps can result in an internationally recognized certification such as PADI Open Water or Discover Scuba Diving, and open up a whole new world of experiences.

Excursions on the unique Undersea Explorer, a semi-submarine, is yet another great way to see the reefs and sea creatures big and small.

Natural Attractions

Our terrestrial environment also hides some breathtaking sights. The island of Middle Caicos offers perhaps the best natural attractions, including Conch Bar Caves, the largest dry cave system in the Lucayan Archipelago, and the impressive coastlines of Mudjin Harbour and the Crossing Place Trail.

On North Caicos is Cottage Pond, a deep and mysterious blue hole, farm visits, and beautiful landscapes to explore.

On the island of Providenciales, there’s Bird Rock Trail, birdwatching, and visits to the Turks and Caicos Reef Fund’s Coral Restoration Facility and Visitor’s Center.

Historical Sites

The Turks and Caicos is home to some interesting historical attractions, albeit not quite as impressive as some of the forts, museums, and architecture found elsewhere.

On Providenciales there’s Cheshire Hall Plantation, an old Loyalist cotton plantation site that’s now managed by the Turks and Caicos National Trust and is open for visits. The National Museum and Heritage Site is another option, and offers a small space dedicated to the interesting elements of local history, and also has a replica plantation-era house and garden.

On North Caicos is Wade's Green, another Loyalist plantation, which was one of the largest in the Turks and Caicos.

Grand Turk has quite a few fascinating sites, including the Grand Turk Lighthouse, a larger branch of the Turks and Caicos National Museum, and the old part of Cockburn Town, which has a number of colonial structures.
