Owner and featured artist Lucie Winton Stubbs sells beautiful original artwork, photography, crafts, and textiles in the intimate, colorful space. The relaxed studio also hosts a variety of creative classes, with children’s art camps, art workshops, wine and paint nights, and more.
Upon entering, you are greeted by beautiful artwork inspired by island life and a laid-back, welcoming vibe. Owner Lucie provides a fun, lively atmosphere and enjoys creating masterpieces with an audience. Sometimes, you’ll find her barefoot and singing to island music. The studio is an active part of the local community, and Lucie leads popular children’s art classes and wine and paint nights there.
Lucie also sells her work at the annual Art and Craft Expo and An Evening of Art.
The Gallery
You’ll be lulled into a relaxed, peaceful state with the vibrant blues, greens, and beach-colored shades of the original artwork that lines the studio’s walls. The studio features art in a variety of mediums, including painting, photography, sculptures, hand-crafted jewelry, and textiles. Inspired by the beauty and brilliant hues of the island, the paintings at Driftwood Studio evoke local wildlife, breathtaking sunsets, exquisitely detailed ocean waves, and more.
If you’re looking for a unique piece of artwork or hand-crafted local gift, Driftwood Studio has handmade bags, signs, jewelry, vases, paintings, and more. The creative space highlights work by talented local artists and artisans as well as artwork by the studio owner.
About the Owner
Studio owner Lucie Winton Stubbs is an active figure in the local community and has also painted murals at local businesses, including a dolphin mural at Da Conch Shack. Lucie creates commissioned paintings and other forms of art for clients upon request.
Lucie has a degree in Constructed Textiles and landed in Turks and Caicos after traveling the world and learning about different cultures. She fell in love with the island of Turks and Caicos and the brilliant colors of the Caribbean and was inspired to create artwork reflecting the beautiful azure blue waters and island life. Her eclectic artwork is influenced by the many cultures and experiences she had while traveling as well as the stunning surroundings of the island.
Lucie’s art has been exhibited in many countries around the world, including the U.S., Spain, England, and New Zealand, to name a few. Her work appears in local and international galleries and private collections around the world.
Art Classes and Services
The studio’s kids’ art camp offers a wide range of fun art-making activities for children and teens, including painting, paper making, drawing, sculptures, crafts, textiles, pet portraits, and holiday-themed artwork.
For adults, Driftwood Studio has Corks and Canvas Paint Nights, which include snacks, art supplies, a glass of wine, and painting lessons to help you create your own painting masterpiece.
The studio also is available for private art events and groups, offering on-site services with art supplies as well as the option to come to your location for special and corporate events.
Located at Caicos Café Plaza
Caicos Café Plaza is a small retail and dining enclave, centrally located in Grace Bay. Onsite is the popular Caicos Café gourmet restaurant, a bakery, several shops and galleries, and professional services. The plaza is within walking distance of many hotels and resorts.
