An Evening of Art
The Shore Club, Sea Breeze Close, Long Bay, ProvidencialesAn Evening of Art is an annual multimedia art exhibition and fundraiser on Providenciales, usually held in January. At An Evening of Art, you get to enjoy food and drink, listen to live entertainers perform, and browse and bid on local art. Historically, the venue for the party and art exhibition has been the luxurious Shore Club resort.
Artwork from talented local artists producing fine art, photographs, jewelry, ceramics, and more is on display. The event features a silent auction as well as a live auction.
Proceeds from the event support the Edward C. Gartland Youth Centre. This nonprofit youth center provides children and teens in the Turks and Caicos with access to clubs, sports and art programming, and mentorship, tutoring, and support. In 2023, the event raised $90,000.
What You Can Expect
Throughout An Evening of Art, you have the opportunity to admire art produced using a range of different media. Well-known local artists, such as jeweler Atelys Adrian and internationally-renowned visual artist Bradley Theodore—whose art has appeared on Moët & Chandon bottles and Moleskine backpacks—have had their work featured at the showcase.
Many of the paintings, photographs, and other artistic creations at the exhibition are inspired by local motifs and imagery, from the fauna and flora of the islands—such as the Turks head cactus, queen conch, and West Indian flamingo—to portraits of local people reminiscent of the islands’ cultural history.
There’s also a Kids Art section, where budding young Turks and Caicos artists display their canvases and creations for purchase.
Expect live entertainment throughout the night. In past years, the event has seen dancers from the youth center, saxophonists, steel drum soloists, and singers.
The showcase is popular with the resident community, and is a fun way to mingle with locals and art lovers. The after party usually starts at around 10:30 PM and features a live DJ.
