Talbot's Adventures

Rickie's Flamingo Café, Grace Bay, Providenciales

The name ‘Talbot’ is synonymous with fishing in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Reigning from a long line of fishermen, Captain Levardo Talbot of Talbot’s Adventures is an islander originally from the nation’s capital of Grand Turk. The Talbot family history in Turks and Caicos starts in 1904, when Theophilus Talbot left Bermuda for Salt Cay, the smallest inhabited island in the Turks and Caicos, to work in the thriving salt industry.

A Fishing Family

A skilled shipwright and fisherman, Theophilus passed on his knowledge of the ocean and fishing skills to his children. Subsequent generations have worked tirelessly to ensure their children learned everything Theophilus taught them about the ocean and its relationship with people.

Vessels and Charters

More than 100 years later, Talbot’s Adventures specializes in fishing charters, boating excursions, and tours. The company’s fleet includes four boat options with plenty of shade and comfortable seating to accommodate any kind of boating adventure. My Fair Share, a 32-foot Boston Whaler sporting an 11-foot beam with a tuna tower, is the perfect charter for offshore big game or deep-sea fishing. However, it is also available for customizable private charters that exclude fishing and instead allow guests to soak up the sun on an island-hopping cruise or private snorkel trip. With comfortable cushions, swim ladders, a marine head (or toilet), and enough space for up to 13 passengers, My Fair Share is a great choice for large groups of people. Meanwhile, the Bone Crusher, a 180 Flats series powered by a single 100-horsepower Yamaha outboard motor, is used to efficiently maneuver through the shallow banks of the Caicos Islands, to allow for even the most novice of bonefishers a catch (and release) of the day.

For visitors looking for something a bit more action-packed, or who may want to treat the younger members of their group, Talbot’s Adventures also offers a ski boat—a 17-foot well craft perfect for water sports, including tubing, waterskiing, and banana boat rides. This vessel has the capacity for six passengers, so the whole family can enjoy a day on board.

Finally, the 38-foot Cool Cat, a pontoon vessel, may suit those after a quieter cruise and can accommodate between 20 and 30 passengers, making it the perfect vessel for family reunions, weddings, or a sunset cruise. Powered by twin 150 Yamaha 4-stroke engines, Cool Cat makes for a smooth day on the water.

Amazing Destinations

A number of excursions are available for reservation and provide an authentic way to explore the Turks and Caicos. The Outer Islands experience affords guests a full day on the water with stops at North and Middle Caicos, or West Caicos, where caves and cliffs wait to be explored. Complement the day with freshly caught lunch. Meanwhile, the Inner Island experience is packed with activities, and depending on the duration of the excursion (half or full day), may include snorkeling, a visit to Little Water Cay to visit the Turks and Caicos National Trust’s Caicos Rock Iguana reserve or, if the trip is timed well, whale watching during their migratory months. A unique way to experience life on a desert island, Talbot’s Adventures Island Getaway excursion is perfect for those looking to escape from the world for a day. Guests can privately charter one of their vessels, which entails being dropped off on one of the remote Caicos Cays, along with coolers filled with food and drinks, umbrellas, chairs, and blankets. Snorkel equipment can also be provided.

For those who have come for the fishing, Talbot’s Adventures offers a number of excursion options to satisfy the most particular of anglers. Specializing in deep sea fishing, bottom fishing, reef fishing, bone fishing, fly fishing, and deep drop fishing, with guides who are familiar with the best fishing spots around the islands, guests are in for a successful day out on the water. When guests book a sportfishing charter, guests are provided with complimentary transportation, food and drinks, and fishing gear. All guests are required to bring along reef-safe sunscreen, cameras, and towels. Talbot’s Adventures offers guided and unguided kayak and stand-up paddleboard (SUP) fishing tours, for those who treat fishing as their meditation. Depending on the level of experience, guests can fly fish or spin cast into an exhilarating hook-up.

More than a century after Theophilus Talbot stepped foot on Salt Cay, his grandson is carrying on his legacy through Talbot’s Adventures, providing a comprehensive menu of charter and activity options for the most to the least experienced. And above all, Talbot’s Adventures offers an authentic experience rooted in deep tradition.
